Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be residents of the concerned area (rural or urban, as applicable). The age limit is 19 to 40 years as on 01 January 2026. SC/ST candidates must submit a caste certificate issued by the competent authority to claim relaxation in physical standards.

Selection Process

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 1-mile race, high jump, long jump and shot put. Rural and non-technical urban candidates — male: 1-mile race up to 5 min (20 marks) / 5–6 min (10 marks) / above 6 min (disqualified); female: up to 8 min (20 marks) / 8–10 min (10 marks) / above 10 min (disqualified). Urban technical candidates get relaxed timings (male up to 6 min / female up to 8 min for 20 marks).
2. Hindi Writing Ability Test: qualifying test of 100 marks with 30 qualifying marks — conducted at 7th-class level for rural and 10th-class level for urban candidates.
3. Technical Skill Test: only for Urban Technical Home Guard candidates — qualifying, 100 marks, 30 qualifying marks.
4. Merit List: prepared as per the notified rules.
5. Document Verification of required certificates.
6. Medical Examination for fitness.
7. Police Verification of character and background.
8. Basic Training after selection, followed by final enrolment as Home Guard.

The notification does not specify a fixed monthly amount; pay is as per government-prescribed rates for Home Guards.
