UPSC CDS selection has three stages: a written exam, the SSB interview, and a medical examination. The written exam tests English, general knowledge and mathematics — the exact pattern varies by academy. Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for the five-day SSB interview. After SSB recommendation comes the medical examination, and then the final merit list.
