Overview
West Bengal Police has invited applications for 70 Driver posts on a contractual basis across district police units and battalions in the state. Selected candidates will get a fixed pay of Rs. 16,000 per month, and the appointment will be for one year.
Applications have to be submitted offline. Candidates have to drop the filled application form in the drop box of the concerned police unit before the last date. The last date is 31 October 2026 for Krishnanagar Police District and SAP 13th Battalion, while Kalimpong District Police will accept forms till 5 November 2026. For the remaining units, the last date is within 14 days of the notice being published on the website.
This is a good opportunity for candidates who have passed Class 8, hold a valid driving licence and have at least three years of driving experience.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following conditions to apply for the West Bengal Police Driver posts.
Educational Qualification
- Minimum education: Class VIII pass.
- Valid LMV or HMV driving licence.
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience, with documentary evidence.
- Indian citizen.
- Ability to read and write Bengali, where specified in the notice.

The Krishnanagar and Murshidabad notices state that no application fee will be charged at any stage. The other notices do not mention any application fee.
Selection Process
Candidates will be selected on the basis of a driving test and an interview. A merit list will be prepared from the marks obtained in these two stages, followed by a medical fitness test.

Selected candidates will have to undergo a medical fitness test. A Police Clearance Certificate may also be required at the time of appointment.
How to Apply
Follow the steps below to apply for the West Bengal Police Driver Recruitment 2026.
- Download the application form from the official website wbpolice.gov.in or the website of the concerned unit, or collect it from the designated office.
- Fill in the form in capital letters and provide your mobile number.
- Paste a recent passport-size photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) on the form.
- Attach self-attested copies of the required documents.
- Submit the form in the drop box of the concerned unit before the last date, and follow the envelope instructions given for that unit.
For Kalimpong, Krishnanagar and Purulia units, the envelope must be superscribed with the post name as given in the notice. The form should be printed on white A4 paper where the notice says so.
