Overview
The Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi is conducting the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026 under Advertisement No. 24/2026. JHTET is a qualifying eligibility test — clearing it makes candidates eligible to appear in teacher recruitment for schools in Jharkhand; it does not itself offer a job.
The test has two papers: Paper-I for those who want to teach Classes 1 to 5, and Paper-II for those who want to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates can appear for one or both papers as per their qualification.
Eligibility Criteria
Paper-I (Classes 1–5) — candidates must meet any one of these:
- 12th with 50% marks along with D.El.Ed / B.El.Ed / Special D.Ed; OR
- Graduation along with D.El.Ed; OR
- 12th with 45% marks along with D.El.Ed (as per NCTE old batch rules); OR
- Graduation / Post Graduation along with B.Ed (as per rules).
Paper-II (Classes 6–8) — candidates must meet any one of these:
- Graduation along with D.El.Ed / B.Ed / Special B.Ed; OR
- 12th with 50% marks along with 4-year B.El.Ed / BA.Ed / B.Sc.Ed; OR
- Post Graduation along with Integrated B.Ed (in some cases).
Subject background matters for Paper-II: Maths/Science teachers need a Science/Mathematics background, Social Science teachers need Arts/Commerce, and language teachers need graduation in the relevant language.
