Clearing UPSC prelims qualifies you to fill the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the mains exam. The mains is a written exam with nine papers, including optional subjects. Candidates who clear mains are called for the personality test (interview). The final merit is based on mains and interview marks; prelims marks are not counted in the final ranking.
