An undertaking is a written declaration you sign during document verification when a required document is temporarily unavailable. In it, you promise to submit the missing document within a fixed deadline given by the recruiting body. If you fail to submit it in time, your candidature can be cancelled. Not all bodies accept undertakings, so check the DV instructions in the official notification. It is always safer to keep all documents ready before your DV date.
