Government accommodation means residential quarters allotted to central government employees in cities where quarters are available. Allotment is based on seniority, pay level and the availability of quarters in that station. Employees living in government quarters pay a licence fee deducted from salary, and they do not receive House Rent Allowance (HRA). The allotment rules are managed by the Directorate of Estates.
