Prelims is the first screening round with English, quantitative aptitude and reasoning.
Only prelims-qualified candidates can appear in the mains exam.
Prelims marks are only qualifying and do not count in the final merit.
Mains is longer and tougher, and its marks count towards final selection along with the interview.
Both stages have sectional and overall cut-offs that must be cleared.
