Regular (permanent) government jobs come with pay commission salary, pension or NPS, allowances and job security. Contractual jobs are for a fixed period, usually with consolidated pay and fewer benefits. Contract staff can be engaged through agencies or directly by departments. Contractual experience sometimes helps in later regular recruitments, but it does not automatically lead to permanent posting. Read the appointment terms carefully before accepting.
